How we review
How a verdict gets made.
Four steps. The same four on every review. Buy, Consider, or Skip — the maths picks, never the affiliate cheque.
- 01
Independent sourcing.
Marketplace listings, vendor docs, refund threads, real-user feedback — and hands-on use when it tells us something the docs cannot.
- 02
Read past the pitch.
Marketing copy reads one way. Refund threads often read another. When they disagree, the review trusts the second one.
- 03
The actual question.
Does the LTD beat three years of the monthly bill? Every review answers in dollars — break-even date and losses included.
- 04
Skip is a verdict too.
Buy, Consider, or Skip. The maths picks. Skip gets published with the same outbound link as Buy — no verdict gets buried.
Some links on this site are affiliate links. We use them when the product passes our verdict, never the other way round. Full disclosure.
By marketplace
Every shelf, read end-to-end.
We track six marketplaces plus the self-hosted alternatives that often beat the LTD anyway.
Reader questions
Eight questions from the inbox.
The ones readers ask every Saturday morning — answered with the same maths we run on every review.
01What counts as a lifetime deal worth buying?
A lifetime deal is worth buying when the one-time price beats three years of the equivalent monthly subscription and the product is mature enough to keep running for that long. Anything thinner than that is a coin flip.
02How is your verdict different from the marketplace's own rating?
AppSumo, SaasZilla and the rest display a star average drawn mostly from buyers who never used the product past the refund window. Our verdict is one editorial answer — Buy, Consider, or Skip — written after the maths runs and after the refund threads are read. The marketplaces will happily show you a 5.0; we won't.
03Can a lifetime deal get worse after you buy it?
Yes, and it's the most common LTD trap. Vendors quietly shrink credit caps, move features into a new “Pro” tier, or add yearly add-on fees that weren't there at launch. We watch for that pattern in the refund threads and update verdicts when it lands.
04Are AppSumo refunds still 60 days?
Yes. As of 2026 the AppSumo refund window remains 60 days from purchase, no questions asked. SaasZilla mirrors this. Dealify, StackSocial, and RocketHub are vendor-specific — always check the deal page before you buy.
05What happens to my LTD if the vendor shuts down?
You lose access. That is the asymmetric risk of any LTD, and the only honest answer. Our reviews flag vendors with thin balance sheets, single-founder dependencies, or unclear successor plans so the risk is at least visible before you spend.
06Do you take affiliate commissions, and does that change your verdicts?
Yes to the first, no to the second. Some outbound links pay us a small cut when you buy. Skip verdicts get published with the same affiliate link as Buy — we do not bury a bad call just because the commission is good. Full mechanics on the disclosure page.
07Should I stack multiple codes / tiers on the same deal?
Only when the stacking maths beats three years of the monthly subscription at the new ceiling. Stacking often looks like a bargain on the deal page but pushes you into capacity you will never actually use. Each review’s tier table tells you where the cleanest dollar sits.
08Should I buy now or wait for a better deal?
If the three-year maths already wins at today’s price and the vendor has at least twelve months of trading history, buy now. LTDs disappear without notice and rarely come back cheaper — they come back with thinner tiers and tighter caps.
