MarkupGo turns HTML, Markdown, URLs, and Office files into images and PDFs through one API.

You send it a template and some JSON, and it returns a hosted image or PDF. It is built for developers and for Make, n8n, and Activepieces users making invoices, certificates, and social cards.

The deal costs **$49 per code**, stackable to seven. MarkupGo's own Lite plan costs **$29 a month**.

The verdict? **Consider**, at three codes. Here is how it scores against [the way we review deals](https://thelifetimedeal.com/#how-we-review).

**TL;DR.** MarkupGo is live on AppSumo at $49 a code, stackable to seven. Three codes give 5,000 credits a month and pay back in about five months against Lite. The catch: a PDF costs 3 credits, there is no visual editor, and one founder runs the whole business. Skip a single code.

> ## The Verdict
>
> **Consider** 6.6/10 — Good stacking maths for HTML-literate builders, with one-person vendor risk.
>
> MarkupGo earns a Consider because three codes at $147 give more monthly credits than the $29 Lite plan and unlimited templates, and buyers rate it 4.84 across 37 reviews. It stops short of a Buy because a PDF costs three credits, there is no visual editor or PDF editing, and the business is one director with no status page and no review activity in nine months.

## What does MarkupGo actually do?

MarkupGo is a rendering API. You write a template in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, fill it with JSON through Handlebars, and get back an image or a PDF at a hosted URL.

The main jobs:

- **HTML or URL to image**: social cards, certificates, open-graph images, screenshots
- **HTML or Markdown to PDF**: invoices, reports, and certificates, as true vector PDFs with selectable text
- **Office to PDF**: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint files, among 130+ formats
- **Magic URL**: a no-code link that renders a template from URL parameters, handy in email and no-code tools

There is a [free public editor](https://markupgo.com/editor) to test templates before you buy, and a Node SDK.

MarkupGo is run by TOGEDIR LTD, a [UK company](https://find-and-update.company-information.service.gov.uk/company/14954815) incorporated in June 2023. Its one director, Abdullah Mara, also answers every AppSumo question himself.

## Is the MarkupGo lifetime deal active?

Yes, the AppSumo deal is live with no end date set.

It first went public in August 2024 and has stayed on sale since. AppSumo reset its start date this week, which is why it sits on the new-arrivals page. More than 2,600 copies have sold.

It is a **partner-managed listing**. AppSumo says it has not vetted the product, so its "We Got Your Back" guarantee does not apply. The 60-day refund is still shown.

The terms give lifetime access and all future **Lite plan** updates. You can stack up to seven codes and must redeem them within 60 days.

## What does the MarkupGo deal include?

| | 1 code · $49 | 2 codes · $98 | 3 codes · $147 | 7 codes · $343 |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Credits per month | 1,000 | 3,000 | 5,000 | 13,000 |
| PDFs per month (3 credits each) | 333 | 1,000 | 1,666 | 4,333 |
| Templates | 10 | 30 | unlimited | unlimited |
| Image transformation API | no | yes | yes | yes |
| Custom domains | no | no | no | no |

Codes four to six follow the same pattern: each code after the first adds 2,000 credits a month. Credits reset monthly and do not roll over.

The credit rule matters. The founder [confirmed in the Q&A](https://appsumo.com/products/markupgo/questions/need-clarification-with-tasks-vs-credit-1224296/) that **a PDF costs 3 credits and an image costs 1**, whatever the page count. At launch the tiers said "tasks"; they were renamed "credits" soon after.

Custom domains are not part of the deal. The founder says they are available as an add-on by email, with no price published.

## How do the maths work out?

**The maths** — 3 codes vs Lite: LTD $147 vs $29/mo

- Break-even: 0.5 years (6 months at $29/mo)

| Year | Subscription cost | LTD cost | Saving |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| 1-year | $348 | $147 | +$201 |
| 3-year | $1,044 | $147 | +$897 |
| 5-year | $1,740 | $147 | +$1,593 |

[MarkupGo's pricing page](https://markupgo.com/pricing) sells **Lite at $29 a month** for 2,000 credits, **Plus at $49** for 10,000, and **Pro at $99** for 20,000. There is no annual plan.

Three codes at $147 give 5,000 credits a month and unlimited templates, more than Lite on both counts. They pay back in about five months.

Seven codes at $343 give 13,000 credits, more than Plus. Against Plus at $49 a month, they pay back in seven months.

A single code is the weak buy. AppSumo prices it against Lite at $348 a year, but it gives **1,000 credits, half of Lite's 2,000**.

## What is the honest catch?

There are three.

> **The honest catch**
>
> MarkupGo is one founder. There is no status page, no changelog, and the Node SDK has not been updated since September 2024. Buyers asked "is it alive?" in the Q&A in February and July 2026; each time the founder replied that it was working. The lifetime value depends on one person keeping it running.

The second is **what it cannot do**. There is no drag-and-drop editor; templates are code only. It cannot [edit an existing PDF or write text onto one](https://appsumo.com/products/markupgo/reviews/unable-to-do-a-simple-task-367188/), which is the reason behind its only one-taco review. There is no proxy support, no retina screenshots, and image transformations work only on images MarkupGo generated.

The third is **the record on answers**. An early founder reply said lifetime credits were a one-time pool that never reset. That was wrong, and he corrected it in December 2025. Reviewers also report about three to four seconds per request, which adds up in busy automations.

The good news is in the reviews: buyers praise support that built templates for them and shipped small requests within days.

### Pros

- Three codes pay back in about five months against the $29 Lite plan
- 4.84 from 37 reviews, with strong praise for support
- Vector PDFs with selectable text, plus Office-to-PDF conversion
- Works well with Make, n8n, Activepieces, and Pabbly
- Unlimited templates from three codes

### Cons

- A PDF costs 3 credits, so PDF volume is a third of the headline
- One code gives half of Lite's credits
- No visual editor and no editing of existing PDFs
- One-person business, no status page, SDK untouched since 2024
- Partner-managed listing, outside AppSumo's guarantee
- No custom domains on the deal

## Who should buy MarkupGo?

Buy three codes if you can write HTML and CSS and need images or PDFs from an automation.

Good fits:

- no-code builders making certificates, invoices, or social cards in Make or n8n
- developers who want hosted PDF and image URLs without running their own renderer
- small SaaS products that send a few hundred generated PDFs a month

Test your templates in the free editor first. If they render well there, the deal is good value.

## Who should skip it?

Skip it if you need to fill in or stamp an existing PDF. MarkupGo cannot do it, and [CraftMyPDF](https://craftmypdf.com/pricing/) can.

Skip it if you want a visual template editor. Everything here is code.

Skip it if PDF volume is the main job and the service has to be up. At 3 credits a PDF, and with no status page, a high-volume or business-critical PDF pipeline needs a vendor with more people behind it.

## How does MarkupGo compare to CraftMyPDF, APITemplate.io and PDFShift?

[CraftMyPDF](https://craftmypdf.com/pricing/) uses the same $29 / $49 / $99 price ladder, with a visual editor and the ability to use an existing PDF as a template. Lite gives 1,200 documents a month.

[APITemplate.io](https://apitemplate.io/pricing/) starts at **$24 a month** for 3,000 PDFs, or $35 for images and PDFs, with both visual and HTML editors.

[PDFShift](https://pdfshift.io/pricing/) is HTML-to-PDF only, from **$9 a month** for 500 conversions.

If you can run a server, [Gotenberg](https://gotenberg.dev) is free and open source, and does the HTML and Office-to-PDF conversion on your own hardware. MarkupGo's value over it is hosting, templates, and the Magic URL. The [Developer shelf](https://thelifetimedeal.com/category/developer) has the other developer tools on this desk, and the [AppSumo shelf](https://thelifetimedeal.com/browse/appsumo) lists every live AppSumo deal we track.

## Frequently Asked Questions

## Frequently asked questions

### Is the MarkupGo lifetime deal still available?

Yes. MarkupGo is live on AppSumo at $49 per code, stackable to seven codes, with no end date set and a 60-day refund shown on the listing.

### How many credits does a PDF use in MarkupGo?

A PDF uses 3 credits and an image uses 1 credit, whatever the page count or file size. One code's 1,000 monthly credits is about 333 PDFs.

### Do MarkupGo lifetime credits reset every month?

Yes. Credits reset at the start of each month and unused credits do not roll over. An early founder answer said otherwise; he later corrected it.

### How many MarkupGo codes should I buy?

Three codes for most buyers. They give 5,000 credits a month and unlimited templates, which beats the $29 Lite plan. One code gives only half of Lite's credits.

### Can MarkupGo edit an existing PDF?

No. The vendor has confirmed that MarkupGo cannot edit an existing PDF or write text onto one. It generates new PDFs from HTML, Markdown, URLs, or Office files.

## Is it worth buying?

MarkupGo is a **Consider**.

For someone comfortable with HTML, three codes at $147 is a fair price for a rendering API that buyers like, and it pays back inside half a year against the vendor's own Lite plan.

But PDFs cost three credits each, there is no visual editor, and one person runs everything. Test your templates in the free editor, buy three codes rather than one, and keep a fallback in mind for anything business-critical.
